Description
Keeping calf feeding equipment clean is vital to prevent disease and allow your calves to thrive. Brushing should be part of the procedure to remove any biofilm that can cling to the bottles and harbour disease.
For best results experts recommend:
Rinsing using warm water, about 32°C, to wash off dirt and milk residues. Do not use hot water to rinse.
Soaking the calf feeding equipment for 20-30 minutes in a mixture of hot water (over 54°C) and 1% chlorinated alkaline clean in place detergent.
Washing the bottles thoroughly in hot water (over 49°C) using a brush, alkaline soap and chlorine or a powdered chlorinated detergent. They can also be washed in an industrial dishwasher. Wash teats manually with a brush.
Rinsing the inside and outside of calf feeding equipment again with a warm acid rinse.
Allow the equipment to drain and dry before using again.
